Improving Delivery Of symPtom control for kidney failurE (DOPE)

This mixed-method study consisted of two phases. The first phase, led by Associate Professor Rachael Walker, investigated the experiences of individuals with kidney failure in Aotearoa New Zealand, who have used cannabis, whether prescribed or not, to alleviate their symptoms.

In the second phase, Distinguished Professor Suetonia Green and her team reviewed findings from previous clinical trials that examined the use of medical marijuana or cannabis in managing the symptoms of chronic diseases.

Both phases have been completed, and the team is now preparing the results for dissemination.

Funded by a Health Delivery Research Activation Grant from the Health Research Council, this initiative involved collaboration between Te Pukenga Eastern Institute of Technology and the Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka University of Otago.
